Preethipura Beach is located on the Laccadive Sea (part of Indian ocean) and it is in the 142th place out of 235 beaches in the Sri Lanka region 6.5 km away from its center, the city of Colombo. It is one of the beaches of Thimbirigasyaya settlement, just 0.9 km from its center. The beach is located in an urban area. It is partially covered by trees which give natural shade.

It is a long several bays coastline with crystal turquoise water and bright sand, so you don't need special shoes. The sharpness of entering the water is quite normal. This beach is suitable for different categories of people, lonely travellers, relaxation getaway lovers etc. It is partially crowded during the high season.

"On Sunday evenings, the beach can get quite crowded, but it remains a safe place to take a dip in the sea. Many families were present, and it was reassuring to know that it was safe to swim with children. Additionally, there was a navy camp in the vicinity, so security was not an issue.
