The beach is absolutely beautiful, with genuine sand. There's even an ice cream truck nearby, and you can take a pleasant stroll on a causeway to reach an island. However, it's important to be cautious when the tide rises as there's a possibility of being marooned on the island. So, it's advisable to consult the tide chart before embarking on your adventure.
Admission is free and the restroom is kept clean. This beach is suitable for leisurely walks and relaxation, but not ideal for playing. If you have children and bring a stroller, you may need to find a place to leave it as the path to the island can be a bit rough. There is no accessible route from the higher level to the lower one, and the lower path may also be slippery. I was too concerned about the safety of my 2.5-year-old daughter to take the risk of using the lower path. I decided to descend myself and took a few steps along the lower path before returning to walk alongside the river that leads to the so-called waterfall. The view along the walk was pleasant, but when I reached the waterfall, I couldn't agree with the description. It resembled more of a dam than an actual waterfall.
I absolutely adore this beach, especially when the water begins to fill up. It's important to check the tide times if you're thinking of crossing over to the island. I had a great time there.
Cramond Beach in Edinburgh is a truly lovely and peaceful spot. The historical significance, showcased by the Roman ruins and the iconic Cramond causeway, only adds to its allure. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as beach games, walking, and cycling. Moreover, the beach is very family-friendly and offers convenient amenities like nearby parking. All in all, Cramond Beach is a delightful destination that will captivate nature enthusiasts and those in search of a tranquil getaway.
It was a beautiful spot to take a leisurely walk by the seaside. During low tide, you have the opportunity to venture out to the nearby island, but make sure to keep track of the tide schedule. Cramond also offers a delightful pub where you can enjoy some refreshments and delicious food.
