To be honest, we were a bit let down by Gros Joncs beach. While it was nice, we found ourselves preferring Rivedoux-Plage, particularly the southern section. If you're coming from the bridge, just take a left turn to get there. All in all, Gros Joncs was just okay, not amazing.

The volunteer or staff rescuers are extremely friendly and we are grateful for their daily surveillance efforts. Let's work together to preserve this beautiful part of France!

We were quite disappointed with our visit to this beach. We had planned a short bike ride with our children from our nearby accommodations. However, we were not encouraged by the water treatment plant on the way. To our dismay, we found horse excrement all along the trail leading to the beach. Upon arriving at the beach, we encountered bags of trash scattered around. If you're looking to swim, I would suggest finding another beach. This one is quite rocky and not ideal for swimming. We were the only ones there for a while, and now we understand why. 😂

This beach is absolutely stunning and easily my favorite on the island. The white sand adds to its charm and makes it a picturesque spot for a day in the sun.

Please note that lifeguards supervise 6 beaches in the island, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.

The hottest month of the island is July - air temperature during this time warms up to 23°C and water up to 20.6°C in August. The coldest month is January - air temperature drops to 9.3°C and water to 9.9°C.
