Salonikiou beach

The serene and secluded region of the second leg in Chalkidiki boasts of a beach with pristine, transparent waters that are a sight to behold. The north side of the beach is a perfect spot to unwind and take in the beauty of the natural surroundings. The water is so clear that you can see the bottom of the sea with ease. It's a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature.

This hidden beach treasure provides a one-of-a-kind experience that may not be suitable for everyone. Nudity is common here, and the water is filled with pebbles and smooth rocks, so wearing aqua shoes is necessary. With a small number of visitors, you can have the crystal-clear waters all to yourself, surrounded by the smooth stones that line the shore. This public beach has a wild and liberated atmosphere, but it's important to note that it's a nudist beach, making it inappropriate for children. Although reaching the beach by car may be challenging, leaving your vehicle and taking a short walk down is a small price to pay for the peaceful seclusion it offers. Despite the rocky seabed, it could be a diver's paradise. The overall cleanliness only adds to its appeal, but keep in mind that it's intended for adults.

Karagatsi beach

We found ourselves off the beaten path, with no clear indication of where to find the public beach. Despite wandering through a residential area, we were unable to locate the entrance. Ultimately, we had to abandon our search and explore other nearby destinations. This experience proved to be a frustrating and fruitless endeavor.

There is a stunning beach that is tucked away and not widely known.

This beach may seem like a haven for children, but don't be fooled. The lack of crowds may be a blessing, but the shallow waters are not without their dangers. And don't even get me started on the parking situation. Unless you're lucky enough to be staying nearby, you'll have to leave your car on the side of the road and trek your way to the beach. Sure, there's some space to park, but that doesn't make up for the inconvenience.

Upon arrival, there was no introduction to the facilities, just a quick handover of the key with a 'Have a nice stay!' Later, I observed the property manager lounging and sunbathing on the beach with guests. In the kitchen, the ceramic top stove was tricky to operate, but I appreciated the daily dishwashing service from housekeeping. The drip coffee machine was unusable due to a lack of filters and coffee. The fridge functioned, but required adjusting for adequate cooling, and there was no ice available on-site. The WiFi signal was weak in the rooms and even weaker inside, with the best reception on the patio. However, the overall speed was frustratingly slow. I booked a Junior Suite, which had a loft accessed by a steep, seemingly unsafe winding staircase. The room for two had two single beds placed side-by-side, which was inconvenient. The large yellow sofa chair in the room was oversized for the space. The art deco lamp bulbs were hot to the touch and non-adjustable for reading. My second-floor garden view room's patio/balcony lacked privacy, allowing clear views into neighboring rooms. Despite claims of soundproofing, noise from adjoining rooms was an issue. The bathroom was uncomfortably small for a tall person, lacking basic amenities like hand soap and body wash. Breakfast seemed to be outsourced, as there was no kitchen or dining area on the property. Although advertised as beachfront, only a few apartments faced the beach, and the beach itself was small and near trash dumpsters. There were no 'Do Not Disturb' signs in the room. Despite my verbal request for no housekeeping, the room was still made up. As a non-smoker, I was bothered by neighbors smoking on their patios, as the smoke drifted into my area. Animal lovers should note that pets are not allowed, contrary to some listings. The local stray cats and dogs situation was distressing. Upon checkout, there was no staff present to say goodbye, leading me to leave the keys with a note at the reception. This visit will be my last to this place, primarily due to the lack of concern for animal welfare by the hotel staff and the local situation with stray animals. I cut my stay short and left earlier than planned.
