About Pantelleria island

At first glance, the diversity of the beaches of the Pantelleria island does not have a prominent distinctive feature. There is no clear predominance of mountain landscapes or crystal sea, on the contrary, everything seems balanced. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the flow of tourists continues to grow from year to year.

Located on the southern coast of the island, along the perimeter road that leads from the capital to Scauri, is western Cala Sataria. Close by is the Grotta di Sataria, a legendary and very large cave that is said to be the place where Ulysses met the Goddess Calypso. The thermal waters that flow out of the cave have been famous since ancient times for treating rheumatic pains and arthritis, and they reach a temperature of 40 °C. The water flows into two pools, one of which is connected to the sea. Unfortunately, the cove is in a state of neglect and access is currently barred. Despite this, the cove is still an interesting spot due to the famous cave that provides shelter from the sun and wind. However, it has been closed for some time due to the risk of collapse, and while it is still possible to visit, the appearance of the area is that of a dilapidated and unsafe place. It's a shame because if it were made safe, it would be accessible to everyone.

This beach seems to have been overlooked and unfortunately is situated near an industrial area. I would advise against visiting this location.

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.
