To reach this stunning beach, we journeyed through Colombo, Anuradhapura, Kebitigollawa, and Welioya, with the other end leading towards Eramadu. The lagoon's corners do not connect, so we hopped on a boat to travel the roughly 100m water patch to explore both sides. The natural environment of the beach was a sight to behold, with fishing, colorful sea shells, birds, sand roads, and more. It was a photographer's paradise. The lagoon divides the North and Eastern provinces and is accessible by off-road vehicles due to the sandy roads on both sides. If you plan on camping, make sure to bring all the necessities as essential shops are not available. However, the experience of camping on this beach is truly unforgettable. The area also boasts prawn fishing, paddy cultivation, and shifting cultivation, surrounded by mangrove swamps and sea grass beds. For birdwatchers, the shallow waters of the lagoon attract a wide variety of water birds, including pelicans, cormorants, herons, egrets, ducks, storks, and waders. This beach is a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature's beauty.
