Calm, measured rest and the sound of waves are perhaps the most common associations that arise with the word "beach". This is not surprising, as relaxation is exactly what many beach travelers are looking for. If you associate your vacation primarily with such activity, choose one of the 741 beaches in the country.

To make your choice easier, we have prepared a list of the best beaches for relaxation in Thailand.

Attraction and Infrastructure

As for the main features of the beaches of Thailand, they are as follows:

  • The country's beaches are mainly narrow, moderate length and have a high level of cleanliness. The most common surface is sand of bright color.
  • Usually, entry into the water is gentle, which is very good for kids. There are 479 such beaches.
  • An important clarification, 322 beaches in the country have a long intertidal zone, which means that during low tide hours you may have to travel a considerable distance. This is also something to consider if you don't want to suddenly be in the water at high tide.
  • The average distance from the road to beach in Thailand is less than 500 meters. 518 beaches are relatively easy to access, 14 beaches are difficult to access, which in most cases means that you have to walk a quite long distance, and 208 beaches are only accessible from the water. The latter include both island beaches and beaches with no land routes due to the natural borders.

The vast majority of Thailand beaches have the necessary amenities, such as sun loungers, umbrellas, beach cafes, showers and toilets.

Thongson Bay beach

During our week-long stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beach. Our room was spacious and comfortable, although it could benefit from a renovation. While the pool was nice, we did notice that it could have been cleaned more frequently. The breakfast was satisfactory, but we felt that the selection of food could have been more diverse given the price range. Despite the location being a bit remote, it was the perfect spot for a peaceful and rejuvenating vacation. However, these minor issues did not detract from our overall experience. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Additionally, the rooms were impeccably cleaned on a regular basis.

We purchased a package for Robinson Khao Lak without much knowledge about Robinson. Despite our initial concerns about the language barrier, we were pleasantly surprised by how fantastic and accommodating this resort turned out to be. Location-wise, we really enjoyed that it was situated in Khao Lak rather than the chaos of Phuket. It was the perfect setting for our small family to simply enjoy the resort without having to venture out for anything. Additionally, being in Khao Lak made it convenient for us to partake in activities in the surrounding area. The resort itself was absolutely amazing. I had never stayed in a resort or location for more than a few days, but this one was perfect. It offered inclusive dining, wellness classes, water activities, multiple pools, and spas throughout the resort. The Kids Club was a hit with our children, allowing us some much-needed time for ourselves. We also appreciated the focus on wellness at the club. The inclusive dining option worked out perfectly for our young family. It eliminated the guesswork when it came to feeding our 6 and 3-year-olds. We simply chose what they were willing to eat and enticed them with the incredible dessert bar at the end of each meal. I personally loved the variety of Western and local food options. Each night, there was a special dish, often with a themed dinner. The food was consistently wonderful, prompting me to go back for seconds or even thirds. As for the rooms, we had a connecting room which provided ample space for us and the kids. The beds and sheets were comfortable and clean. The king room was particularly great as it didn't require the air conditioning to be turned on. However, the double room needed the air conditioning to be on at all times, otherwise the room would become hot and humid, leading to condensation. The service we received was the highlight of our trip. The staff members were all exceptional. From the reception to the food and beverage team, the kids club staff, the cleaning crew, and the activities team, everyone was absolutely wonderful and truly made our experience special. Our kids even ended up drawing over 20 thank you letters for each staff member that we got to know. It was great that we had the opportunity to meet and chat with everyone, including the managers who would often lend a hand in the main restaurant. I can't list all their names here, but Adam, Richard, Tony, and their teams were truly phenomenal. The Robinson Experience lived up to its reputation in Germany and Europe. After experiencing some of it ourselves, we can confidently say that it is a great product. Every aspect of the club, from the songs to the staff, the games and activities, the organization, and the structure, was memorable. In summary, we absolutely loved our experience here.

Banana Beach

Beautiful people beach fairly busy yet wild backdrop. Need to go down the road in stairs made in the ground. Can be slippery but worth the little effort (5 minutes).

Four Seasons Beach

We had a fantastic time staying at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort in Koh Samui. The resort is absolutely stunning. Our villa had a private pool and a breathtaking view of the ocean. It was spacious, well-maintained, and beautifully furnished. The housekeepers came to clean our villa twice a day and they were very efficient. The resort is located on the north-west side of the island, situated on a hill. It is well-equipped with amenities such as a gym, spa, massage house, and even a boxing ring. Buggies are provided for transportation around the resort, and we had no issues getting one during our stay. We had the opportunity to dine at two of their restaurants, both of which had stunning views and served amazing food. The buffet breakfast had a wide variety of options, and one night we enjoyed a BBQ dinner on the beach with a fire dance and other live performances. It was a great experience and very entertaining. The beach bar also made excellent cocktails. The customer service at the resort was excellent. The assistant manager, whose name I unfortunately forgot, was fantastic and incredibly efficient. There was nothing the resort couldn't do for us. I had booked a surprise birthday dinner for my husband called 'Once in a Blue Moon', and she arranged a perfect dinner on the beach with an amazing view. They went above and beyond to accommodate us. I apologize for not writing this review sooner, but I would like to acknowledge and appreciate all the amazing efforts that helped make our holiday at your resort a memorable one. Thank you!

Please note that lifeguards supervise 70 beaches in the country, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.
