WONDERFUL! 💞 Really one of the best beaches I've ever been We were there by low tide and we walked on the green rocks in the centre of the bay. The grass was like a carpet, we just needed to walk barefoot on those sacred rocks We had our lunch there (leaving no trace of it) and we relaxed under the sun Then we had a long walk along the beach I regret I had no swimming suite, don't miss this place!
One of the most beautiful beaches and areas of Ireland. Travel in any direction from this spot and you will find or see something beautiful. Drive up a road that is a dead end heading up a mountain and you find a man selling cheese! (Happened to me and my daughter) Home of Daniel O'Connell once apon a time, his wife buried in a medieval graveyard near parts of the beach. Sensational part of the world to visit. Drive it and explore everything!
I had the most incredible experience at Derrynane Beach in Kerry, Ireland. The golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and stunning natural surroundings left me in awe. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful walk or a day of sun and sea. The nearby historical Derrynane House adds a unique touch to the visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tranquil escape in nature!
Fun experience, windy and chilly, but still cheaper than therapy
Stunning gem of a blue flag beach even on a grey cool 'Irish summer' day that will take your breath away. Staffed by lifeguards during the summer months. Go slow on the twisty ferny narrow road down to the beach as it is one car width mostly with few pull in spaces to deal with oncoming cars. We didn't explore the OPW heritage site of Derrynane house as the beach was calling us on our first time to this area. Our children both aged under the age of 5 thoroughly enjoyed their dip and paddle and digging in the sand. Lots to explore at this beach: Rockpools and the ruins of an Abbey & graveyard on an island which you can access once the tide is out. Reasonable sized carpark with wheelchair parking but not really wheelchair accessible from what I could see unless I missed a trick. Bins: check. Public toilets: 2 toilets in the ladies which were checked whilst I was there. Worth the long drive to get here and bonus if the sun greets you whilst here.
