Calm, measured rest and the sound of waves are perhaps the most common associations that arise with the word "beach". This is not surprising, as relaxation is exactly what many beach travelers are looking for. If you associate your vacation primarily with such activity, choose one of the 154 beaches in the region.

To make your choice easier, we have prepared a list of the best beaches for relaxation in Victoria.

Attraction and Infrastructure

As for the main features of the beaches of Victoria, they are as follows:

  • The region's beaches are mainly wide, long and have a high level of cleanliness. The most common surface is sand of bright color.
  • Usually, entry into the water is gentle, which is very good for kids. There are 122 such beaches.
  • An important clarification, 23 beaches in the region have a long intertidal zone, which means that during low tide hours you may have to travel a considerable distance. This is also something to consider if you don't want to suddenly be in the water at high tide.
  • The average distance from the road to beach in Victoria is less than 500 meters. 150 beaches are relatively easy to access, 4 beaches are difficult to access, which in most cases means that you have to walk a quite long distance.

Wild beaches with no infrastructure dominate the coastline of Victoria however, even here you can find a beach with a standard set of accessories: sun beds, umbrellas, restaurants, showers and toilets.

Latest reviews on Victoria's beaches

Bay Of Martyrs
10 William Pippin

What is there not to adore? The coastline of this stunning island we call home is truly breathtaking. Australia is truly blessed.

Waratah Beach
10 The Merrick Family Life

Waratah campground is an excellent place for a peaceful escape, offering breathtaking bay views and convenient beach access. The facilities are kept spotless and in good condition, and the staff is welcoming and accommodating. Whether you prefer camping, caravanning, or staying in a cabin, you're guaranteed to have a fantastic experience at Waratah.

Number Sixteen Beach
10 Maria Belessis

We went to Number Sixteen Beach with the intention of catching the sunrise, but we were slightly disappointed. We ran into some locals who informed us that this area is actually better for watching sunsets. Nevertheless, witnessing the sun rise over the hills and illuminate the incoming waves was truly magical. During stormy weather, the surf here is quite powerful, and the tide rises rapidly within the hour that we were there. At the time, the path to Dragon's Head appeared to be dangerous, so we decided not to attempt it. I assume this place is safer to explore when the sea is calm, as there are rock pools and formations to walk to, particularly Dragon's Head which is just a few meters to the west. The parking area can be a bit difficult to spot, located just before a hump on the road, and it is not well-maintained as there were deep ruts in the sand the closer we got to the walk. The descent from the parking area can be steep, but there is a viewing deck before the path down to the beach. Overall, the beach is not crowded in the early morning and offers a stunning view of the vast ocean. It would be ideal to explore the entire stretch on calmer and clearer days.

Sandringham Beach
10 Sarina Patel

This beach is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. It was amazing to just sit and take in the view. My family and I had a great time and were impressed by the size of the beach. Definitely worth a visit.

Eastern Beach
10 Zephyr Rainier

This beach is ideal for spending time with family or friends. It offers stunning scenery and a beautiful setting. There is a fantastic swimming pool that is perfect for both kids and adults. Be sure to bring your own food or grab some fries and chips. The beach is surrounded by grass, sand, and trees. Overall, it's a wonderful place to visit!

Aspendale Beach
10 Linh Anh Vuong

This beach has become our family's go-to spot. We make the 30-minute drive at 8:30pm a few times a week in the summer just to catch the sunset. It's not as crowded as Chelsea beach, and it's conveniently close by. The new bathrooms are a great addition, especially for our family with two kids. We highly recommend it.

Please note that lifeguards supervise 35 beaches in the region, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.
