Otto-Maigler-See Beach

The lake is incredibly beautiful and features a sandy beach, a bar, and some delightful food stalls. However, the main beach requires a rather steep entrance fee of 6€ per person (plus an additional 3€ for parking), which seems quite excessive. On the bright side, if you don't mind skipping the bars, you can easily access the lake for free by strolling to one of the numerous charming little bays along the shoreline.

The venue is absolutely stunning, making it an ideal choice for weddings, relaxation, enjoying a cup of tea or coffee, sipping on a beer, and of course, taking a refreshing swim. The staff is incredibly enjoyable and friendly.

The lido is quite lovely, offering sunbathing lawns and small sandy spots. The water is shallow, making it perfect for young children. Additionally, there is a kiosk and a lake terrace right next to the campsite.

When I called to inquire about arriving at 7pm, a very pleasant English-speaking man answered and assured us that we were welcome. However, when we arrived at the reception, we were met with anything but a warm welcome. The elderly woman who greeted us could not have been more disdainful if she had tried. When we asked her in German if she spoke English, she angrily shouted NEIN! at us. We attempted to communicate using our limited German vocabulary, but it was clear that we were bothering her. Eventually, she reluctantly provided us with the key to the gate and our designated spot. Unfortunately, we were unable to use our credit card, and the woman instructed us to go to the village. I suspect that her English proficiency was better than she let on. Later, we realized that we needed three shower tokens, so we timidly returned to the reception and politely asked her for the tokens (the German word was written on the documentation). She demanded €4.50, which we did not have at the time (we planned to withdraw cash later in the village), and she practically threw the tokens at us. The next morning, as we handed over the cash, there was a faint hint of a smile. I thanked her for her Sehr freundliches wilkommen (very friendly welcome). In my more than 30 years of traveling to over 20 countries, I have never encountered someone so unfriendly, unhelpful, and insulting in a business setting. It is truly unfortunate, as the lake is beautiful and the sanitary facilities are exceptionally clean. The campsite clearly does not need additional customers, as it is filled with regulars. It is acceptable to stay for one night if you have some knowledge of German or if you can simply brush off the disrespectful treatment (which we managed to do).
