St Nikolaos Beach

This stunning beach can only be accessed by boat from Hydra port and requires a fee of 15€. Nestled within a protected gulf, the water is blissfully tranquil, creating a serene atmosphere that feels like swimming in a private pool. The crystal-clear water is refreshingly cool but not too cold, making it perfect for a leisurely swim. A bar is conveniently located on the beach, offering basic refreshments and sun beds for a small fee. Keep in mind that cash is required for these amenities. While you're here, it's worth noting that you may not have phone reception, which can be a blessing in disguise if you're looking to disconnect and enjoy some peace and quiet.

This beach is conveniently located near the heart of the city and boasts a stunningly scenic route to get there. Nevertheless, it's important to note that the pebbles are sizable, rocky, and incredibly slick. Without aqua shoes, I found it challenging to maintain my footing and navigate the terrain. It's possible that this was a temporary occurrence. Despite this setback, the food is delectable, and the staff is exceedingly accommodating, which earns high marks in my assessment.

This lovely petite beach offers a serene atmosphere with crystal clear waters that are perfect for swimming. However, the sun beds can be quite pricey at 30€, but the service is top-notch. Although some of the sun beds could use a little refurbishing, the overall experience is satisfying. The cool music adds to the relaxing vibe of the beach. It's wise to book in advance to secure an umbrella, and the stroll from the port takes approximately 15 minutes. One star was deducted due to the condition of some of the sun beds.

Although the water may not be crystal clear due to the presence of plastic debris, the hue of the ocean remains stunningly beautiful. However, the beach area itself is somewhat limited due to the surrounding hotel complex.

While the beach itself may not be anything extraordinary, this is not uncommon for Hydra, which is not particularly known for its stunning beaches. However, there are several positive aspects to this beach. Firstly, the water is extremely clean and the depth is perfect for snorkeling. Additionally, the beach is well-organized, with the option to rent sun beds and umbrellas for 15€, as well as grab a bite to eat or drink. Lastly, there are a few charming tavernas located nearby if you're looking for a lunch spot. All in all, this beach is definitely worth a visit. You can reach it either by boat taxi or by walking along a picturesque paved path, which takes around 30 minutes from the main town and offers breathtaking views of the island.

This breathtaking beach is a hidden gem that requires a 5km trek over the mountain behind Hydra to reach. The beach is covered in pebbles and boasts a small island in the bay. As there are no amenities available, it is essential to pack enough water and snacks for the day. Finding the path to the beach may require some map work, but following the blue paint splashes will lead you in the right direction. Google maps may not be of much help, so it's best to consult the map at Hydra harbor. However, the island is home to sea urchins, so caution is advised if you plan on exploring it.
