This serene and tranquil beach is a hidden gem, mostly frequented by locals who prefer to visit in the mornings, leaving the beach deserted in the afternoons. With miles of shoreline, the beach is a mix of pebbles and sand, making it a bit challenging to enter and exit the water due to the small pebbles. However, once in the water, the experience is delightful, with calm waters in the mornings and slightly rougher waves in the afternoons. While the beach isn't as well-maintained as touristy beaches, it's not filthy either. To help keep the beach clean, we always carry a bag and pick up any litter we come across, disposing of it in the bins provided. On the Rizomilos side of the beach, there's a great beach bar that's open during the summer, offering reasonably priced food and drinks. The actual Velika beach doesn't have any facilities except for a couple of showers. But just a short walk back on the road to the beach, there's a charming taverna called O Kostas, which serves a good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices. We recommend bringing your own food, drinks, and an umbrella to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful beach. Remember to leave no trace and keep the beach clean for others to enjoy!
