Lagoufa beach

The beach at Makrigialos offered by Mesodokia homes is simply the best. With stunning views and a safe environment for children, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a day out in the sun.

Ammoudi beach

This stunning beach with a pristine shoreline adorned with velvety sand and a gentle slope into the crystal-clear waters. Despite being an organized beach, it offers ample room for all visitors to bask in the sun and enjoy the scenery. While there is a beach bar present, during my visit the atmosphere was serene without any overpowering music. If you opt for the comfort of sunbeds, you can purchase two bottles of water for 6 euros. However, it is worth noting that the beach can become crowded during peak hours in the afternoon.

Makry-Gialos beach

While not flawless, this beach is among the top choices in Crete, surpassing the majority of popular options in Chania and Rethymno. However, it tends to get quite crowded in August. Unfortunately, there is an excessive amount of plastic waste for my personal preference, although some may find it acceptable. The primary issue stems from strong north winds that push garbage towards the sea. It would be beneficial for local authorities to educate residents on proper recycling practices, as littering is a common occurrence in the area. During the peak summer season, I have witnessed floating human waste on more than one occasion. Although it may benefit marine life, it is not something I find appealing. There are superior alternatives in close proximity.

Anaskelou beach

This serene beach is a hidden gem, free from the hustle and bustle of crowds. The water is reminiscent of a tranquil pool, with its crystal clear clarity inviting you to take a dip. The beach is dominated by a magnificent cave, adding to the natural beauty of the surroundings. It is truly a perfect spot to relax and unwind.

This beach is a true gem with its stunning expanse of soft sand and tranquil atmosphere, tucked away from the crowds.

Diaskari beach

The Diaskari taverna is a perfect spot to indulge in some mouthwatering and freshly cooked food. The presentation of the dishes is impeccable and the service is prompt and attentive. The cherry on top is the stunning beach that serves as a backdrop to the dining experience. It's hard to ask for more when you have everything you need right in front of you. I would definitely urge you to try their daily catch and the pork neck sandwich, both of which are simply delicious. My husband, on the other hand, couldn't stop raving about their French fries, which were seasoned to perfection.
