Without a doubt, Portland is my preferred destination to visit. The beach boasts stunning white sand and a refreshing river. The meals prepared in the kitchen were amazing, particularly the sizable, fresh, and perfectly cooked fish.

This is a fantastic public beach located in Boston, Portland. You can easily find food on the premises, but if you want more options, there are several other restaurants just a short two-minute walk away. The entry fee is reasonable at $400 per person, and there are facilities available for changing and washing off with fresh tap water.

We ventured 15 minutes East of Port Antonio to San San Beach, located just a mile past Frenchman's Cove. A conspicuous white sign on the left indicated our arrival at the beach. Upon our arrival, a gentleman informed us of an unposted entrance fee of $700 for adults and $300 for children, with a charge of $1400 for adult visitors. The beach itself was expansive, with stunning, velvety white sand. However, the price of admission did not seem to be reflected in the upkeep of the beach. Although a man was attempting to rake some of the seaweed that had washed ashore, the amount of seaweed in the water made it difficult to swim without getting entangled. The beach was also littered with plastic bags and other debris, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the sand was not entirely free of hazards, as we frequently stumbled upon half-buried coral boulders that were sharp and painful to step on. Despite these shortcomings, the water was warm and inviting, though snorkeling was not an option due to the rough waters. Overall, while San San Beach was a decent option for a day at the beach, we may consider visiting the more pristine Frenchman's Cove in the future. After our visit, we flagged a taxi back to Port Antonio, which cost $120 for adults and $50 for children. We then enjoyed a delicious pizza at The Italian Job, located near the Jerk Centre. A basic large pizza cost $1200ja, while a loaded pizza was priced at $2500.

This Portland beach is an absolute gem! While it may not boast the pristine cleanliness of Frenchman's Cove, it more than compensates with its charming local shops and the exceptional Cynthia's restaurant. The coral and Sea Urchin, as well as the assortment of cool shells, present a unique opportunity for snorkeling enthusiasts. For those driving in, there is complimentary parking available, though donations are appreciated. However, if you don't have access to a car, it's important to note that the beach is a mile away from the main road where cabs typically drop off passengers. A shortcut through the woods can help you save time and make the journey more enjoyable.
