This beach is a rugged shingle beach with plenty of opportunities for long walks, exploring caves, and taking in the scenery. It's important to be cautious when swimming here, as the beach shelves steeply and the surf can be strong at times. At the northern end of the beach, there is a more sheltered cove called Monkey Bay, which can be accessed by steps. Additionally, there is a Department of Conservation campsite located at the northern end. It's worth noting that despite what Google may say, there is no beach pavilion at this location.
