Calm, measured rest and the sound of waves are perhaps the most common associations that arise with the word "beach". This is not surprising, as relaxation is exactly what many beach travelers are looking for. If you associate your vacation primarily with such activity, choose one of the 14 beaches in the town.
To make your choice easier, we have prepared a list of the best beaches for relaxation in Hoylake.
As for the main features of the beaches of Hoylake, they are as follows:
The vast majority of Hoylake beaches have the necessary amenities, such as sun loungers, umbrellas, beach cafes, showers and toilets.
We parked at the car park at Formby Point and took a short stroll to reach the beach. The beach is absolutely beautiful, stretching out as far as the eye can see. It was a delightful experience walking on the beach, and the sand dunes added an extra element of fun. No matter your age, you can still enjoy climbing to the top and sliding down the dunes. I highly recommend visiting Formby Beach for a great time.
This beach is truly unique. With around 100 iron statues scattered throughout the beach and water, and the Liverpool docks in the background, the scenery is absolutely stunning. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely walk or to let the kids run around and burn off some energy.
This beach is a fantastic and safe spot for walking your dog. It's clean and beautiful, but just be aware that there are no restroom facilities, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. On weekends, a coffee van now sets up in the beachside car park. Keep in mind that it can get extremely crowded on weekends, especially on Sunday mornings.
The place is absolutely beautiful, not overly crowded, and boasts a breathtaking lighthouse. It's perfect for unwinding, taking leisurely walks, and escaping the chaos of everyday life.
Thurstaston cliffs can be compared to the Devon cliffs of the northwest, albeit on a smaller scale. While many people flock to the overrated and dull Crosby beach or the pleasant yet crowded northern beaches of Wirral, as well as the areas around Prestatyn/Rhyl, the western part of Wirral remains relatively uncrowded. The steep and winding stairs that lead to the top of the cliffs, along with the breathtaking views of Wales, excellent facilities, and numerous benches, left me in awe. Thurstaston beach is truly a remarkable place, and I am already looking forward to my next visit. However, next time I plan to explore the bike routes in the surrounding area.
This charming small sandy beach offers a delightful escape. The tide fluctuates significantly, so it's advisable to plan ahead. At times, you can stroll out to Little Eye, while other times the sea covers the marine lake entirely. In the summer, the beach comes alive with activities like donkey rides and nearby refreshment options. Keep an eye out for jellyfish, especially when the sea is warmer.
Please note that lifeguards supervise 5 beaches in the town, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!
Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.
The hottest month of the town is August - air temperature during this time warms up to 17.9°C and water up to 16.7°C. The coldest month is January - air temperature drops to 8°C and water to 8.3°C.
