Diep Son Island Beach

The Nha Trang region boasts numerous stunning beaches and islands, some of which are popular among tourists. However, Diep Son Island is more renowned among locals. As a foreign traveler, I had the chance to visit this island and here is my honest review. To reach the island, you can only take a speedboat. Unfortunately, during my visit, the jetty was undergoing construction, making it challenging to drag my luggage through the dusty area. Although the speedboat provides life jackets, the driver was too fast, making the ride quite bumpy. Since Diep Son is a small island, there are limited activities to do here, mainly swimming and kayaking. Nonetheless, there are a few picturesque spots that are perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy photos. I would describe it as a serene island where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you decide to eat on the island, all meals are provided by the operator. I was impressed with the quality of the food, especially the fresh seafood, including oysters, snails, lobsters, and squid. The entire island relies on solar power and rainwater. However, power is cut at certain times of the day to recharge the solar batteries. Showers are available at the central restaurant or chalets, but the toilets are basic. If you plan on staying overnight, be prepared for a few challenges. The island operator has developed the island at their own expense, and they have built chalets that run on gasoline generators. At night, power to the lights and fans may be cut, and there is no air-conditioning. Nonetheless, you can enjoy the natural breeze and sounds of the waves. In conclusion, Diep Son Island has its charms and limitations. It is best to come here with an open mind and enjoy the experience without any demanding expectations. If you do so, you will undoubtedly love this place.

You may have heard about Diep Son from the famous image of sand roads that used to connect three islands. However, when I visited Diep Son, the sand roads were no longer visible. I could only see a small portion of the road, and it was not connected to any other island. In the past, things were different as we could clearly see and even walk on the entire road. The guide informed us that to witness the complete road nowadays, we would need to visit around 4-5 AM in the morning when the tides are at their lowest.

This pristine shoreline offers a perfect escape for nature enthusiasts and camping aficionados alike. With ample opportunities for outdoor adventures, this untamed beach promises a memorable experience. However, be sure to pack your mosquito repellent as these pesky insects can be quite bothersome. Additionally, note that only rugged 4x4 vehicles will be able to access the entrance of this remote paradise.

The beach is truly stunning with its natural beauty. However, the ongoing construction of resorts in the vicinity has raised concerns about the potential destruction of the serene environment. It is disheartening to see the introduction of artificial attractions in a place that is known for its unspoiled charm.
