It's a bustling beach with numerous tourists, but if you're in Gili, it's a must-visit spot. Just be ready for plenty of inquisitive tourists who can't swim and might be a bit bothersome.
I was thrilled that we were able to spend a few hours snorkeling at this beach. We opted for a private boat to avoid the crowds of tourists. The guide was extremely helpful, capturing photos and videos of us. Afterward, we decided to grab some food at Gili Meno.
The beach is incredibly overhyped and packed with people. If you want to enjoy some solitude, make sure to arrive before 8 o'clock. When we got there at 9 o'clock, there were consistently at least 30 people surrounding the statue, not to mention the numerous boats. It's quite convenient to swim a short distance from the shore to reach the statue, so there's no need for a boat tour if you're staying on Gili Meno.
The beach is undeniably stunning, but it tends to attract a large number of tourists. When we first arrived, the visibility was extremely poor, forcing us to leave and return later. Upon our return, we were astounded to see at least 60 individuals attempting to swim in the crowded waters. I would suggest opting for a private tour during off-peak hours for a more enjoyable experience.
I've always wanted to see the underwater statues, and I'm so grateful that I finally got the chance to witness them in person. You can book an island hopping package from Gili Trawangan with the local fishermen. The prices vary, but they usually include snorkeling gear and a life jacket. This spot is usually quite crowded, making it difficult to take a picture without someone's feet or hands in the frame! 😄
