The underground caves are one of the most amazing visits to take on Terceira Island. ATT: Algar do Carvão will be closed from Oct 19th 2024 to unkown date as of now, during this period we will be showing a hidden lava tube instead. On this tour you will visit Algar do Carvão which is classified as a Natural Monument, the Christmas cave, the smoke holes (furnas do enxofre).

The West of the island is one of the most, if not the most, impressive parts. You really don't want to miss all the sites around here or rush through them. The West is worth a full day of exploring on its own. The best spots for views of the caldera and lakes are off the main road, and finding them is not easy.
