This black sand beach was quite fascinating. I visited in the off-season of December and encountered some very intense waves, making it unsafe to swim due to the abundance of rocks just beneath the surface.
This location is definitely worth a visit - it has a beautiful setting, with easy access to the black sand beach via steps or a slope for those less able. Sun beds and parasols are available to hire at a reasonable rate and there's a lifeguard on watch as the waves can be quite big. Plus, it's conveniently located close to shops, restaurants and bars, with parking available on the road side, although you'll need to get there early to secure a space.
Quite small, with rocky terrain and huge waves. The downside is that it's rather quiet, and the only thing that is really convenient is the supermarket nearby. The lifeguards are there, but it's not really a plus.
Playa de la Arena has gorgeous volcanic sand, and it can get a bit busy sometimes. But that's okay, because there's a lifeguard on duty during the day to make sure everyone is safe.
This place has clean, gray sand and is a great spot for swimming, although it can get quite choppy at times and the lifeguard is always on duty. You can lie on your towels for free or pay 4 euros for a sunbed for the day. I've been twice and both times there was a red flag due to the strong waves.
