Holy Island is a special place and the best way to approach it is across the sands - walking barefoot if you want to get the most from your experience! The walk is one-way to the island, returning to the start point in my vehicle after we have spent some free time on Holy Island.

Starting at The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre, we'll catch the AD122 bus to Housesteads, with fascinating commentary along the way to make the most of our time on the Wall. Pass the site of Housesteads Roman Fort and its bustling civilian settlement, visit the Sycamore Gap site, explore Milecastles 37 and 39, and enjoy the rare opportunity to walk on the only section of Hadrian's Wall where visitors are permitted to walk on top of the Wall itself. The tour takes you around some of the more interesting sights of the beautiful city of Newcastle. On it you will hear about the history of the city from the Iron Age to present day, and also about some of the city's more interesting characters.
