I've been familiar with this beach for many years, and it's truly amazing. The road leading to it might be a bit intimidating, but once you arrive, there are different concessions available where they can provide you with chairs and umbrellas. Many of these concessions also offer delicious lunches, as well as bathrooms and outdoor showers. However, if the wind is blowing from the north, Giannella might not be the best choice. Nevertheless, if you have kids, this beach is so much fun for them. When my own children were 3 and 4 years old, they loved digging for tiny shells, which I knew as angel wings in Texas. They were incredibly happy when Uncle Puccio made a delicious pasta dinner for them. Another great thing about this beach is that you can walk out quite far into the water without it reaching your thighs. I visited this beach last fall in late September, and it was warm and enjoyable, with a fantastic lunch of wine and fried fish. Don't hesitate to stop at the various spots along the busy two-lane road. Usually, there's a friendly person watching the cars, so you can get a ticket and head towards the beach, where someone will assist you in setting up chairs and an umbrella. If you really like it, you can even ask for the same spot the next day! Overall, Porto Santo Stefano is truly a special place in the world.
