The entire area, including the water, is toxic, and there is hardly any wildlife that can survive in it. The sea is just as salty as the Pacific Ocean, which is quite significant considering it was originally a lake. The small town nearby appears rundown and somewhat suspicious, but the residents choose to live there, so it's their decision. My suggestion would be to visit but not stay for more than 15 minutes due to the unpleasant smell. However, the scenery is visually appealing, so enjoy it but avoid lingering too long.
