About East Sussex

At first glance, the diversity of the beaches of the East Sussex does not have a prominent distinctive feature. There is no clear predominance of mountain landscapes or crystal sea, on the contrary, everything seems balanced. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the flow of tourists continues to grow from year to year.

Latest reviews on East Sussex's beaches

Hastings Beach
10 Alessandra Rossi.

With breathtaking views and a plethora of activities in the vicinity, I strongly suggest paying a visit to this beach if you're seeking a place to decompress. The locale exudes a tranquil atmosphere and boasts numerous points of interest and diversions to keep you and your little ones occupied in close proximity.

Eastbourne Beach
10 Lena Kuznetsova

The beach is an ideal spot for unwinding, soaking up the sun, and taking a refreshing dip in the water! Regrettably, I was unable to locate any facilities for changing clothes.

Camber Sands
10 Kiran Patel

The beach boasts a stunning shoreline and ample space for sunbathing and swimming. Despite being popular during warmer summer days, the beach doesn't feel overcrowded. However, reaching the beach from the car park requires a walk over the dunes, which may pose a challenge for some.

St. Leonards beach
10 Aria

This beach offers a serene escape where one can immerse themselves in the soothing melody of the waves and the calls of seagulls. Alternatively, visitors can relish a refreshing beer at the Goat Ledge Cafe. The optimal time to visit is during low tide, as it reveals a vast expanse of sand to leisurely stroll along. An idyllic location for a peaceful retreat.

Seaford beach
10 Kavita Patel

This beach is a sight to behold. However, be aware that the beach is covered in stones, so it's not advised to enter the water without proper footwear. The stones can be quite painful to walk on, so make sure to keep your belongings close and your shoes even closer. The beach is surrounded by a few colorful huts, some of which are shops and others that may be available for rent. There is also a restroom in the vicinity, although I did not personally use it. This beach is perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the beautiful views and stunning scenery. It's also the starting point for the hike from Seaford to Seven Sisters. There are a few hotels nearby, as well as some off-road markets, cafes, restaurants, and pharmacies. While some people do swim in the water, it's not a particularly popular activity at this beach. However, it's only a short two to four-minute walk from the train station, so you don't have to travel far to enjoy the stunning sea views. The water is crystal clear and beautiful, so don't forget to bring your sunscreen and bathing suit. If you're planning on hiking, it's best to start earlier in the day so that you can rest at intervals and take some incredible photos along the way. Enjoy your trip to this beautiful beach, and have a wonderful day!

Birling Gap Beach
10 Ariya Shaina

It's a beautiful place to enjoy the panoramic view of the Seven Sisters white cliffs. The available walks are conveniently located, neither too lengthy nor difficult. The staff at the visitor center are incredibly friendly and supportive. Additionally, there is a cafe where you can unwind in case the weather isn't favorable.

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.

The hottest month of the region is August - air temperature during this time warms up to 20.3°C and water up to 17.9°C in September. The coldest month is January - air temperature drops to 7.7°C and water to 9.2°C.
