If you're in the mood for a lively carnival atmosphere, the boardwalk area is the place to be, though it can get quite crowded. For a more serene experience, take a stroll along the lighthouse and enjoy the peaceful, uncrowded surroundings. The sunset views are absolutely breathtaking, and the entire area is impeccably clean. The drive to the beach from the Bay Area is equally as stunning, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.

This beach is perfect for those new to surfing! My husband has been teaching our daughters how to surf here and it's a great spot for beginners. The beach is protected and warmer than other spots, and there are refreshments available right next to the boardwalk. Restrooms are conveniently located at the front of the pier. Personally, I love to paint and relax on the beach, and then scale up my paintings back in my studio in San Jose. The atmosphere is lovely, with surfers catching waves, sea lions barking, and sailboats passing by. There are also plenty of people swimming and people watching. On weekends, parking can be a challenge, but it's cheaper to park on the pier than in the nearby lots, some of which charge up to $30. Be sure to arrive early to secure a spot!

This beach, situated just a mile south of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, is a real hidden treasure. It boasts a team of three lifeguards, two of whom are on a Sea-Doo for rescues, and has plenty of excellent waves perfect for boogie boarding. Additionally, there are restrooms available and the beach is located in a peaceful area, making it an ideal spot for families.

I am absolutely enamored with this particular beach. It boasts a vast expanse of sandy shoreline, complete with little nooks and crannies that provide respite from gusty winds. It's generally agreed upon that crowds are not much of an issue here, making it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of Santa Cruz. The parking lot is situated across the street, so a quick dash across the road is necessary before embarking on a short trek over the dune to access the beach. While the shoreline is visible, there is a sharp drop-off and powerful tides, so caution is advised for those who are not experienced swimmers. Kite surfers take advantage of the strong winds, and it should be noted that nude sunbathing is permitted on the far left side of the beach, near the cliff.

This stunning beach is an ideal destination for pet owners seeking a relaxing getaway. During the weekdays, the beach is not overly crowded, allowing visitors to enjoy the serene surroundings in peace. However, the parking facilities are limited, so it is advisable to arrive early to secure a spot.
