Latest reviews on La Jolla's beaches

Black's beach
10 Jaxon Andrews

This beach is amazing, but it's a bit risky to navigate the narrow and rocky path. It may not be accessible for handicapped people, and it's not a good place for dogs. However, for those who love hiking, this might be the perfect spot. The sunset in the parking lot is beautiful, but it's best to keep it low-key as the police patrol the area.

La Jolla Cove
10 Nico Reyes Hernandez

This is a stunning location that left us in awe, even though we come from an area with many great beaches. It's a treat to observe the sea lions, seals, and sea gulls lounging around. Make sure to catch the sunset here for the ultimate experience.

la Jolla Shores
10 Soren Knight

This location boasts breathtaking scenery that will leave you in awe. Although it can get crowded during peak season, the stunning skies make it all worth it. Be sure to stay until sunset, as it is a sight you won't want to miss. There is a charming village nearby with an abundance of shops and restaurants. My personal favorite dining spot is Barbarella's due to their diverse menu. For a laid-back drink, Shore Rider is the perfect spot with delicious margaritas. A new market with cute decor, home goods, and food is also nearby. In the morning, I love to grab tea and açai bowls from Brick and Bell. This area is easily walkable and even has a playground for children. Kayak rentals and cave tours are available, with Groupon offering great deals. The ocean is perfect for swimming, as the waves are not too big, but be cautious of stingrays and follow the lifeguards' instructions. Pay attention to the yellow and black checkered flag, as it indicates where swimmers and surfers should be. Take a moment to look around and enjoy all this location has to offer.

Children's Pool La Jolla
10 Rajveer Singhania.

This beach is a fantastic destination for both children and adults. The pristine and well-maintained beaches are adorned with stunning rock formations that add to the natural beauty of the area. However, the children's beach is not suitable for kids due to the presence of playful sea lions. The crashing sound of the waves against the rocks is a breathtaking sight to behold. Additionally, there are ample facilities such as restrooms and shower rooms for visitors to freshen up after a swim. A portable drinking fountain is also available for convenience. The entire area is a feast for the eyes, with picturesque views in every direction.

Shell beach
10 Lars Johansson

This beach is an excellent location to observe the wildlife, including those who are observing the wildlife themselves. In the months of March and April, the only swimmers you'll find here are the adorable California seal pups. Additionally, there are a handful of sea lions from the nearby cove, as well as pelicans and the ever-present sea gulls.

Windansea beach
10 Carter Brander

Windansea is a true paradise. It's peaceful and serene, never too crowded. You can watch the surfers as the sun sets and it's a mistake to leave too soon after the sun goes down. Stick around for at least 20 minutes and you'll be rewarded with a stunning display of colors in the sky. If you're visiting San Diego, don't miss out on Windansea!
