One option is to create a beautiful loop by combining the Greenbelt trail from parking lot 3 to Kings Park Bluff, and then returning along the shoreline. Another possibility is to return via an unmarked trail near St Johnland cemetery. I also explored the less popular Wetland trail from parking lot 2. To complete a loop, you can return via Sunken Meadow road, but be aware that it can be quite busy.

I took a Huntington Harbor lighthouse tour that departed from this beach. It's a pleasant local North Shore beach that's peaceful, and the water appeared to be clean, although I didn't go for a swim.
