To make your choice easier, we have prepared a list of the best beaches for relaxation in Oregon.

  • The state's beaches are mainly wide, moderate length and have a high level of cleanliness. The most common surface is sand of bright color.
  • Usually, entry into the water is gentle, which is very good for kids. There are 38 such beaches.
  • An important clarification, 22 beaches in the state have a long intertidal zone, which means that during low tide hours you may have to travel a considerable distance. This is also something to consider if you don't want to suddenly be in the water at high tide.

Latest reviews on Oregon's beaches

Fogarty Creek Beach

Undoubtedly a concealed treasure! The access to the beach is effortless and the restrooms are conveniently located near the parking area. I stumbled upon some agates on the shore and was surrounded by a diverse group of beach enthusiasts. The beachgoers consisted of mature couples and families, all of whom were displaying courteous behavior.

Diamond Beach

We stumbled upon another beautiful beach in Oregon. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and it was ideal. There were hardly any other beachgoers, so we practically had the whole place to ourselves. Our furry friends had a blast and even took a dip in the chilly ocean waters. The scenery was breathtaking, with stunning views in every direction and a small creek that flowed into the ocean. Additionally, there's a playground in the parking lot area.

Arizona Beach
8 Irisa

Unfortunately, my visit to this beach was brief. However, I plan to allot a longer duration for my next trip. The weather was pleasant with ample sunshine and clear skies. The beach was conveniently accessible and the gentle breeze made for a comfortable atmosphere. It was an ideal location for a picnic.

Ocean Way Beach

This beach is truly magnificent! The stunning beauty of the sandy shore and crystal-clear waters will leave you in awe. The picturesque scenery is breathtaking and the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day in the sun. You won't be disappointed by the sheer splendor of this beach.

Whaleshead Beach

The warning sign at the entrance of the beach advises that a 4-wheel drive vehicle is preferred, and I strongly agree. Although we managed to drive down to the beach in a 2-wheel drive SUV, we ended up kicking up some rocks along the way. Despite the windy weather, the beach was breathtakingly beautiful. The Whaleshead creek flows into the ocean at this location and carves through the beach's black sand, creating an awe-inspiring visual effect. The hiking trails are delightful, and there are well-maintained picnic tables available at the parking area. If you can safely make it down to this beach, it's definitely worth the trip!

Bastendorff Beach
6 Irisa

This sandy beach situated in the northern region of Cape Arago is a true gem. If you venture south towards the cape, you'll struggle to find another beach that offers such an unobstructed view, perfect for flying kites to your heart's content. The best part? It's easily accessible, making it an ideal spot for a day trip to soak up the sun and enjoy the picturesque scenery.

Please note that lifeguards supervise 6 beaches in the state, but you should rely on more than just them, remember the elementary rules, as lifeguards are not on duty around the clock, even on equipped beaches!

Finding hotels in relative proximity to the beaches is usually fine. Many beaches have enough nearby accommodation, which gives good opportunities to choose the right place to stay.

The hottest month of the state is August - air temperature during this time warms up to 19.8°C and water up to 14.9°C. The coldest month is February - air temperature drops to 8.6°C and water to 9.3°C.
