The route leads us through the transverse channel between the harbor island and the mainland, past the imposing storage buildings. At the end of the cross canal, we turn and we now explore the harbor island from the other side, from where we have a good view of the pilot's house, the Ozeaneum and the legendary Gorch Fock. Starting at the historic Marienkirche on New Market Square, you'll explore medieval streets and marvel at buildings dating back to the 1300s. Stroll to the waterfront to see 19th-century warehouses, the modern Ozeaneum aquarium, and the Gorch Fock I sailing ship. Enjoy views of the Baltic Sea Sound and return to Old Town via the Old Market Square and the Medieval City Hall. Highlights include climbing the Marienkirche tower, visiting the 14th-century Museumshaus, and discovering poignant “stumbling stones.” This 75-minute tour offers a rich glimpse into Stralsund's resilient history and vibrant heritage.

The DARSSBAHN, a so-called little train, takes you on a tour of Stralsund. It starts at the ferry bridge at the fish market, in front of the harbor island, and takes about 45 minutes. Marvel at over 500 listed gabled houses, numerous churches and monasteries, and the maritime side of Stralsund, with the many small canals, sailing boats, and fishing boats around the harbor island. After the train starts, it heads towards the Hansa-Gymnasium, past the oldest harbor bar in Europe, straight into the narrow streets of the old town, past the Scheelehof, in Külpstraße you can take a look at the historic town hall facade, then past the ponds, city fortifications, and ramparts towards the Neuer Markt. After a lap there, continue towards the Heiliggeist Monastery and the Schwedenkai. During the trip there are numerous explanations of the city's history in German.
