From there, we’ll head to my picturesque hometown of Mitla—surrounded by beautiful mountains and agave fields. Driven by a desire to share my culture and traditions with you, I’ll guide you through these majestic agave landscapes so you can learn more about the plants and discover why mezcal comes in such a wide variety of flavors. There will be plenty of laughter and photo opportunities along the way. Afterward, we’ll visit our family distillery to see the production process step-by-step and witness the passion that goes into making it. We’ll wrap things up by tasting various types of mezcal accompanied by a delicious, authentic Oaxacan meal. I love to share my stories and traditions of my culture with you. Classes can be in spanish or english. Our class will take place in our beautiful outdoor kitchen, located on our terrace. You will learn to prepare food and cook in a traditional Oaxaqueña kitchen, called a brasero - a traditional brick stove, with open fire. We will get busy in a hands-on cooking experience where you will learn to prepare appetizers, traditional drinks, salsas and main dishes. In the culmination of our hard work, we will share in a group meal around the table with food, drink, stories, laughter, love and of course, mezcal. The tradition of the day of the dead in Oaxaca is something you have to live at least once in your life. It is only the 31st of October evening and we have few places available. We will visit 03 pantheons of the most important: General Pantheon, Xoxocotlan Pantheon and Atzompa Pantheon. The pantheons open their doors for family, friends and visitors to enjoy this tradition that is one of the most important in Mexico. Music, food and tradition is what awaits you. Meet the pantheons with local guides, who know and will give you all the details of this tradition. We will be small groups for each group to have their transport with their operator, tour guide and coordinator. everyone will be aware of every detail. We will have a meeting point, where the vans will be ready with their group name and their day of the dead offering: flowers, bread, chocolate, candles and mezcal.
