Your new favorite late-night watering hole is nestled deep in the redwoods, and accessible only by a Skunk… introducing the Skunk Train’s one-of-a-kind Glen Blair Bar! Select Friday nights and Saturday nights all year. Catch a train at 6:30pm, out of the Fort Bragg Depot and journey along Pudding Creek to The Glen. There you’ll find firepits, heaters, group games, live music, and a world-class bar offering up local beer and wine, and signature cocktails.

This 2 hour round trip will take you from the Willits valley floor to the highest point on our rail line. During this trip you will pass through Tunnel #2 and descend into the redwood-thick Noyo River Canyon – an amazing ecological wonderland, and an excellent opportunity to discover the mighty giants that made Mendocino County famous. The train will stop briefly at Crowley while you enjoy the splendor of one of the oldest and most iconic trees along our route. The Wolf Tree was so named for the large growth off of one side – woodsman called these wolf trees because they choke out smaller trees and underbrush. Passengers are able to get off the train during our stop at Crowley, to better enjoy the views. You'll make the trip to Crowley on board one of our historic Diesel-Electric engines.

This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction. Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables. These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

Pedaling along our historic tracks, bathed in dappled sunlight and a light breeze, you’ll experience a new freedom on the rails, unlike anything else. Without the need to steer, you’re unbound, able to look around at the wonder of this untouched stretch of the natural world, spotting blue herons, osprey, an occasional lounging turtle, perhaps a playful river otter, a deer munching on the foliage, and during peak berry season maybe even a bear.

All of our tour guides are Bay Area Natives, which will help you understand what it’s like to grow up in SF and now live here as grown ups with our own families. All of our guides are Lifeguard Certified with the American Red Cross and guests may choose to swim on our tours ;-) We provide Light Weight Fully Carbon Fiber Paddles for enhanced user experience. Weave Large granite boulders and gaze upon crystal clear turquoise shallows and cobalt blue depths. On warmer days guests may to swim, scale up Bonzai, and leap into the water for a more thrilling adventure. Guides capture stunning photos. We are allowed to launch a maximum of 6 kayaks on any given tour. On tours with more than six guests booked, guests of the same family will be asked to paddle in pairs. Guests desiring kayaks for themselves should choose tours with less than six total guests. Larger groups must request accommodation three weeks in advance and be granted permission from the state park.
