At the very far northern end of Broulee Beach lie some very large rock formations that project into the ocean. These act as breakwalls, taking the force of the waves and creating safe harbours beside them, no matter the surf conditions. This comes in very handy today, as a big swell is making the actual beach part of North Broulee really only suitable for surfers, and they’re having a great time. Us swimmers though were happy to shelter beside the enormous rocks and enjoy an ocean swim in relative safety. Keen to return here with snorkeling gear, as this spot seemed to have a lot going on under the surface. There’s a free car park close by and even now, in peak holiday season mode, there were plenty of spaces. At high tide, the mouth of the Candlagan Creek that you walk past to get from the car park to the beach would likely also make a pleasant swim spot.
Great beach for kids of all ages. Rock pools, tidal estuaries, playground and surrounded by a great friendly community.
Imagine having the entire beach to yourself!!? Crazy right! That was my experience! The entire beach was empty! It was so calm and soothing and you could actually hear how deep the ocean is through its waves!
Awesome beach. Little river that has fish in it for the snorkelers. Check the tide though as a few hours each side of high tide is ideal. Bridge to jump off for the adventurous and adventurous at heart. Beach good for surfing, sand castles and playing around.
The walk around it's so beautiful, plenty of nature and animals (we were able to swim with manta rays, puffer fish and many others), at the end there's a lovely beach
