The presence of wallabies on the beach is disappointing. They are more like domesticated pets than wild animals, with only one wallaby for every ten people. It feels like a tourist trap. While Cape Hillsborough beach is stunning, I do not recommend supporting the feeding of these wallabies just for someone to profit.
Watch out for crocodiles, even though we didn't spot any, there are warning signs all around! This beach isn't ideal for swimming, but it's perfect for a leisurely stroll with stunning views. I'll definitely be returning to catch a glimpse of the kangaroos at sunrise. Surprisingly, the beach was deserted at 1pm!
I filmed a lovely walk on the beach. The weather was ideal with a slight cool breeze and clear blue sky. The low tide and gentle waves provided a peaceful escape from the busyness of the day. I decided to explore the rocks and was pleasantly surprised by the many caves, nooks, and crannies filled with life. A sea eagle soared overhead as I enjoyed the best part - no footprints in the sand, just me and nature.
It's a great spot to visit, we spent two nights in a cozy little hut close to the beach with a spacious shoreline. It's enjoyable to explore the nearby national parks, but be sure to apply bug spray to avoid pesky sandflies. The amenities include toilets, showers, a communal kitchen, barbecue area, unheated pools, and restaurants that are open until 2:00 pm. There isn't much cell phone reception, but it's a wonderful opportunity to observe kangaroos and snap some photos. The receptionist was friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable. This is not a free camping site, so be sure to make a reservation for a cabin, hut, campervan, caravan, or tent. Families will find plenty of activities to keep them entertained at the park 😊.
This beach is a fantastic spot for a family picnic, with a nearby camping area and plenty of coral structures along the shore. The beach is clean with clear waters, and there are parking spaces, toilets, and a play area for kids, making it an ideal weekend destination. A great walking trail across from the beach leads to peaceful hangout spots, and there are a few lookouts nearby that offer stunning views of the ocean, complete with mangroves and rocks.
