I had the pleasure of spending a week at this beach with my family, and as a New Zealander, I was impressed by the laid-back, rustic lifestyle. In the South Island, we refer to these types of accommodations as "cribbs," a term with Scottish origins.
The beach is conveniently located close to home and is peaceful, only about a 5-10 minute walk away. There is a Holiday Villa nearby where you can easily access the beach for a relaxing walk or swim. Fishing is also allowed and the sunset views are stunning.
The beach is beautiful and not too crowded, mostly just fishermen. It's a great spot for a peaceful day by the water.
This beach holds a special place in my heart from childhood. To the left, there is a small boat ramp and well-maintained restroom and shower facilities. As you continue walking along the beach, you'll eventually reach the Alcoa fence. On the pylons, you'll find plenty of mussels that we used to cook and enjoy. In the evenings, you can catch Cobbler and sand crabs with a torch and spear gun. You can also catch various fish right from the beach. To the right of the beach are the shacks where we used to spend our summers, although we sold ours long ago. I highly recommend this beach, especially on a warm summer night.
This beach is a fantastic little spot - clean, tidy, and beautiful.
