Niedawno dokończono kilka poważnych modernizacji i wygląda to świetnie.

Nicely developed beach area just south of the town of Barra del Tordo. They have recently finished some major upgrades and it all looks great. There is one beachfront hotel, places to camp, some souvenir shopping and several good restaurants to choose from. I highly recommend Comedor Gladis on the corner of the road coming in from the highway and the beachfront boulevard. We ate both breakfast and dinner there and really enjoyed both meals. Plus, the menu has prices listed! (Something of a rarity in my recent experience). It was very, very good and very affordable. As for the beach, it's clean, pretty and uncrowded but be sure to bring baby oil to remove the tar you may pick up on your feet and shoes (a trick I learned growing up on the Texas coast!). I'm not a geologist, but I suspect there are natural oil seeps in the area (yes, that's a thing). Not a huge annoyance though. Also, bring chairs if you plan to rent a palapa ($200). The day we were there, none were provided and most of the wooden picnic tables were damaged and unusable. The concrete ones that were available were fairly intact though. Next on my list is a visit to the Tortuguera located at the south end of the boulevard. I walked over and it looked like they were caring for dozens of eggs buried in the sand. I'd love to be there when they release the young turtles back into the sea! Overall, I highly recommend this nice little beach area. Actually, all of Barra del Tordo/Aldama is quickly becoming my favorite part of southern Tamaulipas!
