Milford Sound Day Tour with Scenic Cruise from Queenstown

13 godzin
Darmowa anulacja

Experience stunning scenery on an unforgettable day trip to Milford Sound. The pristine Milford Sound is part of the World Heritage Fiordland National Park, in the south west of the South Island, and is famed for its remote atmosphere and rugged beauty. It is New Zealand’s best known fiord and the only one that can be reached by road. Maori are believed to have discovered Milford Sound more than 1,000 years ago, returning seasonally to collect the prized pounamu (greenstone). In the early 1800s John Grono was the first European settler to land in the sound, which he named after Milford Haven in Wales. Described by Rudyard Kipling as the 'eighth wonder of the world', Milford Sound was carved by glaciers during the ice ages. Milford Sound is breathtaking in any weather. Cliffs rise high into the air from the dark waters, mountain peaks scrape the sky and waterfalls cascade downwards, some as high as 1000 metres.

Being at the end of the Wairau Valley Basin, this beach is comprised of small stone grains, making it look more like a West Coast beach. More wild and rugged looking than the average sandy East Coast beach. Not much of a swimming beach, it can swing from being dead calm some days, to decent swells others. Has views of the North Island on clear days. Kawhai can be caught at the Diversion River Mouth. There's several camping spots of either free or cheap DOC varieties.

Nice beach, but it is a bit exposed as it’s a surf beach but worth a visit and swim if the suns shining.

Dość dzika plaża żwirowa z długimi spacerami, interesującymi jaskiniami i miejscami do odkrywania.

A pretty wild shingle beach with long walks, interesting caves and places to explore. Care needs to be taken when swimming. The beach shelves quite steeply and the surf can be heavy at times. There is a more sheltered cove accessed by steps at the northern end of the beach called Monkey Bay. Also at northern end is a Dept of Conservation Camp site. I don't know why Mr Google has added Beach Pavilion. Not part of my post. There is no pavilion!!

Great place to hang out during summer. Many people can do camping and tenting in the area allocated. I do find the sea bit rough with big strong waves, but I have seen people swimming in the sea. It is also a long beach for walks. There is also many batches along the beach.
