The after dark feeding tour is an experience that is unique to Devils@Cradle. This tour provides an unforgettable experience, and the opportunity to observe these extraordinary animals whilst one of our keepers gives you a greater understanding of them, and details the conservation work being undertaken within the facility. Devils and quolls are primarily nocturnal species, therefore are far more active at night, and the introduction of food generally stimulates some fierce competition between them. We use environmentally sensitive lighting and focus on the social interactions and feeding habits of these unique carnivores, allowing visitors a rare up close opportunity of seeing Tasmanian devils in a group feeding situation - quite a spectacular sight!

Begin with a relaxing 20-minute stop at a local bakery near Hobart — perfect for breakfast and coffee. Travel the scenic Great Eastern Drive, passing farmland and forest. Stop at Raspins Beach for views of Maria Island and stories of its convict past. Pass through Swansea, hear about the first settlers en route to Freycinet National Park. Enjoy a 1.5-hour return walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout for unforgettable views of this world-famous beach framed by the Hazards. Explore more of Freycinet’s beauty with visits to Honeymoon Bay and Cape Tourville, offering white sand, coastal views, and crystal-clear waters. Later, visit Devil’s Corner Winery to sample fresh seafood, wood-fired pizza, or Tasmanian wine while soaking in views over Great Oyster Bay. We begin the day with our city loop tour where we will provide guided commentary of Hobart's major attractions and landmarks. Our first destination is the awe-inspiring kunanyi, also known as Mt. Wellington. Ascend to the pinnacle at 1272m and be mesmerized by the breathtaking panoramic view of Hobart and its surroundings. Next, we'll venture to the renowned Salamanca Market, available on Saturdays only. After exploring the market, we will continue our journey through the scenic Coal River Valley wine region. Along the way, we will quickly stop at the acclaimed Wicked Cheese. Then, we will proceed to the historic township of Richmond, which is rich in convict history. Richmond is home to numerous charming eateries, making it the perfect spot for our lunch break. To conclude our adventure-filled day, we'll visit the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Your first bike ride is an exhilarating 6 km road descent from the summit of Mt Wellington. Starting 1270 metres above sea level, the summit experience & road descent have breathtaking views. The second ride is an 11km off-road guided ride, gently rolling down an enchanting track through stunning temperate rainforest. You'll experience breathtaking vistas, towering eucalyptus forests, gigantic ferns, a waterfall, walk under historic aqueducts, gaze into crystal clear babbling streams, and catch glimpses of curious local wildlife. Join us as we travel 1270 metres above sea level to experience spectacular views over Hobart and southern Tasmania. The 2.5 hr return tour includes 30 minutes to take in the views from the lookouts and observation shelter at the summit. Buses depart daily from Hobart’s waterfront. OR, if you’re looking for a little more adventure, you have the option to hop-on and hop-off at 5 Wellington Park bus stops where you’ll find a variety of alpine walking tracks to explore.
