Grotto Snorkeling: There is nothing like snorkeling at the Blue Grotto. It is one of those amazing experiences you will never forget. The Grotto is a cavern that is connected to the ocean by a series of tunnels. The sun shining into the water here fills the cavern with a strange blue light. You will find lots of sea life including napoleon wrasse, pyramid butterfly fish, green sea turtles, tuna, octopus, and black tip sharks. The Blue Grotto is one of Saipan's beautiful places to see! You could, but: ● Typhoons (+ other activity) often unearth sites NOT on maps and that require secret detours to reach. ● The bomb replicas (originally intended for public view) are on private property; many folks aren't aware of them. ● Maps won't reveal local lore, facts the books don't or get wrong, introduce you to locals who can share stories about life then & now, nor include insights a guide gains from giving tours, or having written several books about the islands as I have! Hobie Catamaran is perfect for Saipan Lagoon sailing because its draft is only 2 feet, it can go over shallow water to see more and it sails more level than monohull sail boat for comfort. I have been charting tourist and teaching sailing in Saipan Lagoon since 2018 so I know all the interesting points of it. Many feed backs are saying this is the most relex and fun activity they had.
