The 1900 Storm has become known as the worst natural disaster to ever happen in the United States. On September 8th, 1900, the city of Galveston was forever changed! The city had no warning a storm was coming and the impact was devastating. Between six and twelve thousand people lost their lives. Neighborhoods were unrecognizable, left in total ruin. The debris created a 20 ft wall minimizing the damage done in the Historic District. Over one hundred years later the buildings are the only survivors left that endured the 1900 Storm.
