I love this beach and the people who live nearby, some of them sell you the delicious shaved almonds in this place and at a good price. You will meet enterprising people offering you coconut water on the way to the next beach (Playa Blanca). Very close is the Honey River, myths say that if you bathe in its waters, one day you will return to Baracoa, I confirmed that it is true.

Very sad how people have defaced this place. There are endless syringes and plastic on the beach. Cubans try to sell things intrusively. Families drink liquor in the water and bathe with small children at the same time. I can't recommend this place at all.

Terrible experience! During our stay in Baracoa we went to this quite nice beach (Baracoa has nicer ones). The beach is near the mouth of a river, when it rains, the flow of the river water increases, causing the temperature of the sea water to drop and consequently many jellyfish (called Agua viva or Agua mala), which are not like those that we can find in Italy, but much more dangerous, come closer to the shore. My girlfriend, as well as other people we met at the polyclinic (fortunately located a few hundred meters from the beach), was taken by one of these causing burns on her face and body, as well as a strong allergic reaction. Unfortunately we had to interrupt our holidays as she had to take cortisone and antibiotics. This danger is not reported in any way even if the locals are aware of it. Be careful!!
