Playa Paralon

Now called Resonance Musique Marea. Ended up here when I booked a different hotel. The one I booked has been closed for at least 6 months. Most people there had booked the other hotel. The entertainment fellow Henry who greets you at the airport says nothing of the change of venue. Henry is very disrespectful towards women. My elderly friend was first slapped on her bottom then air humped behind her back for the amusement of a fellow couple traveling with us. He doesn't see how this is humiliating towards any woman. The food is the worst. For fresh fruit & veg you have to beg the employees to bring it in. It's hard to do this as they themselves do t have enough. In 14 days they had one meal that was decent and that was to pay themselves on the back for all the people they had defrauded to get to this lame hotel. The hotel doesn't supply enough food to the workers who are always hungry and begging guest to get food for them. If your thinking of booking here don't. It's not a relaxing holiday it's more of a survival quest.

We just got back from here 😊 (October 4-11 2024). Beautiful getaway! We went when it was rather empty and that’s what we wanted, we aren’t party people so the one night show + live music during one dinner was just enough. The sands are not white and water not blue like the north side of Cuba- but the mountains are worth it! They just updated it so it’s much more contemporary inside the rooms, and beautiful room bathrooms. The cleaning was minimal, a few ants got in our room but we quickly got rid of them with bug spray 🐜 There were no mosquitoes at all but some hungry beach and sand flies. Didn’t see one cockroach anywhere like other resorts 😮‍💨 The chef made what he had- work. It’s not the resorts fault when they don’t have access to typical food and spices. We didn’t get much fresh fruits and vegetables though (not even bananas 😞) but I saw a few months ago, reviews posted plenty… so it was just our luck I guess. We never went hungry though!. We bought extra water bottles from the store on site as the hotel doesn’t automatically refill but the bar has it & will give you water. Access up here in the mountains makes it more difficult (& a longer drive) for items to be shipped out- especially when there’s fuel issues 😢 We couldn’t get wifi the first night (lack of experience with the young lady at reception) but returned in the morning and got it. I had to teach online and wifi wasn’t reliable, very spotty. Again- not the resorts fault. Unfortunately, the local airport was closed so we had to drive 4 hours from Holguin Airport but the driver had a cooler box with food & water for us, plus several stops to use washroom at other hotels. It did NOT feel like a long drive at all! A/C bus and music playing…. I LOVED the drive up through many cities and mountains. Maybe not ideal distance if you have kids 😂 TIPS: -They take Canadian dollars & Visa/Debit cards. Cuba banks don’t accept Canadian coins so PLEASE bring American dollar bills for tipping (unless you too $5 bill Canadian once in the beginning). -Bring care packages for staff: cooking spices, toothpaste, small Advil/Tylenol, bathroom toiletries, kid toys etc. They literally cry when you give them stuff 😞 Us who visit Cuba, we don’t go for the best food. We go for the people, the sun, the coconuts, to shut out the day to day busyness and to lessen our media, the cheap vacations with priceless views, and we go with big hearts. 💕 I I would definitely return here!!! ❤️ 🏝️ 🥥 🌞

我们刚从这里回来😊（2024年10月4日至11日）。 美丽的度假胜地！ 我们去的时候相对空旷，这正是我们想要的，我们不是派对人群，所以一晚的表演 + 一次晚餐的现场音乐已经足够。 沙滩不是白色的，水也不像古巴北部那样蓝——但山景值得一游！ 它们刚刚更新，所以房间内部更加现代化，浴室也很漂亮。 清洁工作很少，几只蚂蚁进入了我们的房间，但我们很快用灭虫剂解决了它们🐜。 完全没有蚊子，但有一些饥饿的沙滩和沙蝇。 和其他度假胜地相比，没见到一只蟑螂😮‍💨。 厨师利用他手头的食材做出了美味的菜肴。当他们无法获得典型的食物和香料时，这不是度假村的错。不过我们没有得到太多的新鲜水果和蔬菜（甚至没有香蕉😞），但几个月前我看到了一些评论发布了很多……所以这只是我们的运气，我想。 不过我们从未感到饥饿！ 我们从现场商店购买了额外的水瓶，因为酒店不会自动补充，但酒吧有水并会给你。 上山的交通更困难（需要更长的时间）运输物品——尤其是在燃油问题严重的情况下😢。 我们第一晚无法上网（年轻的接待员缺乏经验），但是第二天早上返回后就恢复了。我需要在线教学，但wifi不可靠，非常时断时续。 再次强调——这不是度假村的错。 不幸的是，当地机场关闭了，所以我们不得不花4小时从霍尔奎因机场开车过来，但是司机带了装有食物和水的冷却箱，还在其他酒店停了几次以使用洗手间。 感觉一点也不算长途旅行！ 空调巴士和音乐播放着……我喜欢穿过很多城市和山脉的这段旅程。 如果你有孩子，这个距离可能不理想😂。 小贴士： - 他们接受加元和Visa / 借记卡。 古巴的银行不接受加元硬币，所以请务必带现金美金小额钞票以便给小费（除非你在一开始带了5加元的钞票）。 - 带给员工的关怀包：烹饪香料、牙膏、小型阿莫西林/泰诺、卫生间用品、儿童玩具等。 他们在收到东西时简直哭了😞。 我们这些访问古巴的人，不是为了最好的食物。 我们为人们、阳光、椰子而来，想要摆脱日常忙碌、减少媒体消费，享受无价的风景，带着大大的心情享受经济实惠的假期。 💕 我一定会再次来这里!!! ❤️ 🏝️ 🥥 🌞

This place has a nice view and the beach were nice and the fruit there is great but that is how far I'd go with the positive. There were some issues with some of the workers though most of them were generally nice. The room was randomly chosen when I went so I couldn't have a say where I wanted to be in the cabanas. Food was lackluster though. I would say it's good to go if you like being on the beach and not be staying in the town somewhere with all the noise. Very secluded and private area and not really close to many towns at all. I was right by the pool area where they had the entertainment at night which is not very pleasant if you are looking to rest and get sleep early. I won't be back here as I found it very unnecessary overall to visit Cuba, personal reasons, but it is an interesting place.

Since this was my 1st time to Cuba, I don't have any other place to compare, to so positives are, scenery, cleanliness, staff. Negatives for me, but maybe not others is the 2 hour bus ride to get here. The presentation of food was lovely, since they had such little to work with. No milk, eggs,butter,beef, very few varieties of vegetables, always bread. They are trying so hard to work miracles with very little and for that should be commended. Again staff and cleanliness makes this an enjoyable stay

Very relaxing place. Rooms are clean (though some minor repair will make them even better), see warm, good weather. Beaches are cleaned every morning. Food is pretty much the same every day with some variation but we liked it since it was tasty and enough varieties for a week. Eggs in some kind every day. Red wine and coffee were always there, only one time there was no milk. Next time though we'll follow other's advise and will bring salt and pepper with us. Because of humidity salt did not come out of a shaker with tiny holes. We tried Italian restaurant a la carte and had to go to buffet after to have normal meal. Very few choices of pasta and pizza. Do not recommend. We truly enjoyed horseback riding tours with Chichi (ask any staff member and they'll help to connect with him). Horses are exceptionally well trained and have very smooth gait in both trot and gallop. However if you are a good rider tell Chichi straight ahead that you want to ride not walk. All staff and people around are very friendly. When you think of tipping keep in mind that lifeguards, security and other workers don't receive anything and their salary is very low. They do their job well and totally deserve some support from tourists. You can also bring them sandwiches from the bar. They can bring you coconuts as many as you want. We paid $1 for each. No mosquitoes or other bugs! Overall good experience.
