The current monastery complex was constructed in 1783, replacing the earlier chapel. It is a majestic structure with a blend of architectural styles, including Byzantine and Venetian influences. The monastery is renowned for its towering bell tower, which is the largest Baroque-style bell tower in the world. Also, there are two museums, one ecclesiastical and one secular for both visits. The boat then heads to Alonissos and its port, Patitiri, for another 1.5 hours to explore the old town, with time for lunch (not included).
