Welcome to Heaven on Earth – best family holiday ever! When we arrived this paradise island by sea plain, our breath was taken away by the amazing view! I can't imagine a more beautiful setting or location for a peaceful getaway! Take a look at my attached photos and you will understand! Then we met the true reason why Kanuhura is one of the very best resorts/hotels around the world that we have ever stayed - the beautiful people that works there! They made us feel so welcome and comfortable all the time – like the “Royal family of Norway” for the whole stay. Your experience starts the moment you leave the airport at Male. Kanuhura has its own lounge in the seaplane terminal which is wonderful after a long trip. The lounge has aircon, wifi, nibbles and drinks. The seaplanes take around 40 minutes to the island. I looked at all the other island on the way and there were no other resorts I would have change with! Our water villa was upgraded to Grand Beach Pool villa. I would highly recommend these as they are on the sunset side of the island and the beach is much wider on this side. We were in villa 131/132 – probably the best villa on the island - next to the Iru beach bar on the most beautiful part. The villa was huge (250sqm) with to separate bedrooms. The outdoor bathroom was spectacular. Taking a shower in the evening looking at the full moon and all the stars was an unforgettable experience! The room cleaning is awesome, five stars for the housekeeping! Each villa comes with bicycles, and we rode all over the island watching the fruit bats and enjoying the orchids. We found the breakfast buffet wonderful with a rich offering of regional fruits such as mangoes, mangosteens, rambutan, passion fruits and much more. We were on a package which included not only the buffet but also the restaurants. There are three main restaurants on the island and at each one we came to feel like family. Mr. Raappe – the most professional waiter in the resort – did an excellent job every time we visited the restaurant he works on that day. In summary, Kanuhura is a very well-run luxury resort offering a very high standard of quality and service. My family loved every moment of our stay and would highly recommend this place. This is one of the best resort I have ever stayed. Its most suitable for family with kids, but as a couple we loved this resort as well. For snorkelling lover, it may not be the best site but if you are into diving like us, this won't be a problem at all. Diving and snorkelling excursion almost everyday with reasonable price. Room exceptionally clean. Food are fantastic, and the pricing are very reasonable. Buffet have different themes almost everyday and you will never get bored. Their seafood are really really fresh. Game room always maintains clean and tidy, and given its not a big resort, everybody will have ample of personal space. Lastly, the water quality on the water villa side is better and sometimes you will see some large stingray swimming around.

Amazing resort, as beautiful if not more so than the pictures. All staff were fantastic, friendly & could not do enough for you.Loved the fact that even on half board you had choice of restaurants & found we were never hungry in the day due to amazing breakfast choices. Main buffet option for evening meal had a different theme each day so wouldn't be bored if always eating in there, so evenings felt were more successful that others but outdoor 'meat' evening was spectacular. Food in Italian & Asian restaurants was always incredible. We luckily had an upgrade for our 25th Anniversary to a beach pool villa, so our room was even better than we expected, there was nothing else you could have wanted in it, from the sarongs & beach bag they supplied to the toiletries. Loved the bathroom with outdoor shower & the view is priceless. Resort had great facilities, played Squash & made use of the games room a lot as was air conditioned. Using the bikes to get around was fun. The other Island you can visit whenever you want is a deserted & even more beautiful hidden gem, we often felt we had this to ourselves when we visited. The snorkelling is great & amazing what you can see even without going too far out (as I'm not a confident swimmer). The memories made here were incredibly romantic & special. The resort is 5 star but it is understated & relaxed, nearly every guest was barefoot & dress for dinner was v.casual as well. Will definetely return & met other couples who had been more than once & said it was one of the best in the Maldives.
