One of my favorite beaches on our holiday. Filled with driftwood as far as the eye can see. Lots of very cool rocks. Great textures for any level of photographers. Lots of fun wood and rock hunting.

We really enjoyed walking the waterfront, even though the weather was miserable. A must see if you are travelling this way.

Aside from Hokitika Gorge, this is definitely the landmark of Hokitika. In front of the beach sign, there's Hokitika Beach Armchair, a 2005 concrete sculpture by Veronika Maser, making it even more photogenic and interesting.
Made famous by social media, this had become a must visit tourist attraction in Hokitika, making it very difficult to get a moment without anyone else taking photos with the sign. So, be patient and wait for your turn (we did), otherwise, come early or late in evening (for sunset).
Nearby there's a public toilet and parking available by the beach.
