The beach is quite nice, but it's important to note that during high tide, there may not be enough space to comfortably lay out your towel. This is especially important to keep in mind during these Covid times, where maintaining distance from others is crucial. However, the water temperature is simply delightful and there's a restaurant/cafe on site where you can grab some refreshments and snacks.

Santa Maria Island boasts a beach that is truly magical and awe-inspiring. The unpredictability of whether the beach will be adorned with pure white sand or the waves will reach the stone embankment, leaving no space for sunbathing, is a phenomenon that is hard to fathom. However, the locals claim it to be a miracle, attributing it to the weather conditions. Regardless of the unpredictability, a visit to this beach is an absolute must! I highly recommend taking the walking trail from Vila do Porto to the beach, which spans approximately 7.5 kilometers. Along the way, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the ocean, caves, and even the chance to savor wild blackberries that grow along the trail.
