This beach is quite lovely! The water may not be crystal clear, but it certainly is pleasant and warm. It's possible to drive onto the beach, however, only with a suitable 4x4 vehicle. I made the mistake of attempting to drive my minivan and ended up getting stuck, barely managing to extricate myself without assistance.

This beach is a real gem - if you're into the whole clean and relaxing thing. Personally, I prefer a bit more excitement in my beach experience, but hey, to each their own. One thing I will say is that the locals do a pretty decent job of keeping this place tidy. I've never seen any obnoxious littering or heard any rowdy behavior. And if you're worried about bathroom access, fear not - there are plenty of port-a-potties scattered throughout the beach, and they're surprisingly well-maintained. And the best part? It's all free. Can't complain about that, I suppose.

The beach was absolutely delightful - pristine, tidy, and impeccably maintained. My spouse had been yearning to visit the Louisiana coastline, and so we embarked on a journey to this picturesque location. Our stay at L'auberge was nothing short of splendid, and spending the day at Holly beach was the perfect addition to our itinerary. The route was easy to navigate, and to top it all off, we even got to witness the playful frolicking of dolphins in the ocean!

As we settled in for the day, we pitched our tent on the sandy shores and indulged in some delicious beachside cuisine. The convenience of nearby porta potties was a welcome relief, and they were surprisingly clean. Although there was some litter scattered along the beach, it was not overly concerning. However, as the sun began to set, the mosquitoes emerged in droves, making our stay unbearable. We promptly packed up camp and fled the scene. While the beach was enjoyable during the day, the nocturnal pests made it a less than ideal location to spend the night.

Although the beach had plenty of shells and decent parking, there was room for improvement in terms of trash collection. The availability of two port-a-potties was appreciated, but unfortunately, one of them was in atrocious condition. The water appeared quite silty, and although we swam for several hours, the experience was cut short by a swarm of jellyfish that left us with painful blisters. To make matters worse, four out of six members of our party experienced diarrhea before we even made it back to our hotel that night. By the next morning, three of us were running fevers and experiencing stomach issues. After doing some research, we discovered that the beach had a high count of dangerous bacteria, making it unsuitable for swimming. Although we did eventually see the warning sign, it was located in an area where we hadn't parked due to our trailer. It's also worth noting that there are no gas stations on the island, so be sure to fill up before you go. On a positive note, crossing the ferry from the east side of the island was a fun experience, and the ride only cost a dollar to enter.
