The beach for lone travelers. The water is a murky shade of caramel, sometimes even green, which may not be appealing to many. The waves are suitable for surfing enthusiasts, but not much else. The long stretch of sand is ideal for strolling, rollerblading, or skating, but the only respite from the relentless sun is the occasional casuarina tree. The beach is overrun with kiosks selling overpriced items, leaving little room for those on a budget. The Trio-elétrico, a mobile sound system, blares music for kilometers, forcing one to endure the noise without complaint. This beach may be someone's beacon, but it is not mine.

This beach is just fabulous, if you're into crowded spots and overpriced amenities. Don't forget to pack your own snacks and drinks, unless you're willing to shell out a fortune for mediocre refreshments. Oh, and don't forget your protective gear, unless you want to fry in the scorching sun. The path to the water is a treacherous 10-minute walk, with the added bonus of burning your feet on the hot stones near the harbor. But hey, at least you can say you went to the beach, right?
