My family set out to find this sandy beach so the kids could run around and play, but the weather worsened as we approached this remote blue flag beach. It has a lifeguard on duty during the summer months and public toilets. Unfortunately, we didn't get to walk on the beach because it started raining, much to the extreme disappointment of the kids who were already dressed in their swim costumes when we left the holiday home. By the time I took a few photos, I was already damp and had to return to the car. Sadly, this beach is also known as the site where remains from a significant cold case were discovered. Nearby, you can visit Cahergall Stone Fort, Leacanabuaile Ring Fort, Ballycarbery Castle, the Top of the Rock viewing point, or another beach called Cuas Crom. We saw Cahergall Stone Fort from the road but didn't explore it due to the bad weather. We would definitely return on a nicer day. For fish lovers, O'Neills the Point seafood bar is a must-visit and is just 15 minutes away from Whitestrand beach.

Located about 15-20 minutes from Sneem, there's a sharp turn off the main road where you should park. There's no parking available directly on the beach or sand, and no space to turn around, so avoid driving down there. The beach itself is gorgeous and perfect for a lovely swim. Be sure to check the tide times; when the tide is fully in, it resembles a lake with two or three islands. There are also some spots for wild camping.

We're spending the long weekend in Ventry and have visited Ceann Trá beach for the past three days. Yesterday, the water temperature was around 13°C, so it's ideal for brave souls and those following the Wim Hof method. The damp sand is perfect for building sandcastles, and the high water debris on the beach can contain some interesting artifacts. There are a few portable toilets, recycling and rubbish bins, and a push-button free shower (located at the top of the ramp) that washes you from head to toe. Two lifeguards sit snugly in their steel cage cabin, keeping a watchful eye on swimmers and the occasional group of touring school kids. After this weekend, I hope to return on the sunny and warmer days in mid-August.

It's a really impressive beach. On a hot day, the water is warm and even hot near the shore. There are toilets, cafes, and water for washing your feet. There's so much space that it doesn't feel crowded even on the busiest day.

We're spending the long weekend in Ventry and have visited Ceann Trá beach for the past three days. Yesterday, the water temperature was around 13°C, so it's ideal for brave souls and those following the Wim Hof method. The damp sand is perfect for building sandcastles, and the high water debris on the beach can contain some interesting artifacts. There are a few portable toilets, recycling and rubbish bins, and a push-button free shower (located at the top of the ramp) that washes you from head to toe. Two lifeguards sit snugly in their steel cage cabin, keeping a watchful eye on swimmers and the occasional group of touring school kids. After this weekend, I hope to return on the sunny and warmer days in mid-August.

It's a really impressive beach. On a hot day, the water is warm and even hot near the shore. There are toilets, cafes, and water for washing your feet. There's so much space that it doesn't feel crowded even on the busiest day.

My family set out to find this sandy beach so the kids could run around and play, but the weather worsened as we approached this remote blue flag beach. It has a lifeguard on duty during the summer months and public toilets. Unfortunately, we didn't get to walk on the beach because it started raining, much to the extreme disappointment of the kids who were already dressed in their swim costumes when we left the holiday home. By the time I took a few photos, I was already damp and had to return to the car. Sadly, this beach is also known as the site where remains from a significant cold case were discovered. Nearby, you can visit Cahergall Stone Fort, Leacanabuaile Ring Fort, Ballycarbery Castle, the Top of the Rock viewing point, or another beach called Cuas Crom. We saw Cahergall Stone Fort from the road but didn't explore it due to the bad weather. We would definitely return on a nicer day. For fish lovers, O'Neills the Point seafood bar is a must-visit and is just 15 minutes away from Whitestrand beach.

Stunning beach with a picturesque drive to reach it. The road is a bit bumpy but offers amazing views. Located about 15-20 minutes from Sneem, there's a sharp turn off the main road where you should park.
