Mount Maunganui is a bustling suburb of Tauranga, situated on a peninsula to the northeast of the city center. It was its own town until the Tauranga Harbour Bridge was completed in 1988, connecting it to Tauranga's central business district.
The area is home to a large lava dome, formed millions of years ago by the upwelling of rhyolite lava. Known officially as Mauao in Māori, it is commonly referred to as The Mount in New Zealand.
According to the New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage, Maunganui translates to "large mountain."
我在陶朗加逗留期间最美好的一天之一。天气很好,皮划艇漂流并享受美丽阳光的悠闲一天。陶朗加是个户外活动的绝佳地点。特别是河漂非常酷。
