Mixed experience. Emailed to request a change of booking, received a reply the next day to say I was within 5 days of booking so couldn't change the booking. Although I had emailed outside the 5 days, they read the email within that timeframe? Long story short, they did make an alteration at my request as they were able to rent out the cabin I had originally booked, but it cost me an extra $50. The staff I met on-site said it sounded a little unfair (a different staff member), but I haven't heard anything further. The place is in a great location and facilities are reasonable. There were outside lights of a cabin next to me that were on all night, which came through the tent, but otherwise fine.

Stunning beach! The rock pools were fantastic for the kids (ages 1, 5, and 6) when the tide was out. There's also a beautiful river running through the beach, perfect for swimming. We didn't find any fossils, but we weren't looking too hard either. There are awesome little caves hidden throughout. I highly recommend visiting this beach at low tide. It's not ideal for swimming, but the rock pools and river more than make up for it. We're definitely planning to get a holiday home here!
**Note: There are rubbish bins and toilets available. No network coverage. It's a remote location with no shops or gas stations nearby; the closest are in Kawhia or Otorohanga, just over an hour's trip away.**

During my visit in Winter, my main purpose was not to experience the Hot Water, but rather to appreciate the natural beauty of the beach and its surroundings. Climbing up the sand dune on either side can be a bit challenging, especially if you're not in good shape. However, I discovered that the beach itself is peaceful and offers stunning views. It's definitely worth a visit even if you're not interested in the Hot Water Beach. Just be aware that during summer, there are warning signs about the sand getting extremely hot. So if you plan to go then, make sure to bring appropriate footwear and consider the well-being of your dog if you're bringing one along.

If you crave solitude and ample space, this beach is perfect for you. Ideal for long walks and enjoying the sunset, we also noticed some people fishing there. It's conveniently located less than 30 minutes from the turnoff at SH23 (via Te Mata Road, then onto Ruapuke Road). The final stretch of the road is gravel and can be narrow in spots. From the parking area, it's a brief walk through the dunes to reach the beach (make sure to stick to the well-trodden path to avoid harming the plants). On hot days, bring jandals as the black sand can get extremely hot and burn your feet.

During my visit in Winter, my main purpose was not to experience the Hot Water, but rather to appreciate the natural beauty of the beach and its surroundings. Climbing up the sand dune on either side can be a bit challenging, especially if you're not in good shape. However, I discovered that the beach itself is peaceful and offers stunning views. It's definitely worth a visit even if you're not interested in the Hot Water Beach. Just be aware that during summer, there are warning signs about the sand getting extremely hot. So if you plan to go then, make sure to bring appropriate footwear and consider the well-being of your dog if you're bringing one along.

Stunning beach! The rock pools were fantastic for the kids (ages 1, 5, and 6) when the tide was out. There's also a beautiful river running through the beach, perfect for swimming. We didn't find any fossils, but we weren't looking too hard either. There are awesome little caves hidden throughout. I highly recommend visiting this beach at low tide. It's not ideal for swimming, but the rock pools and river more than make up for it. We're definitely planning to get a holiday home here!
**Note: There are rubbish bins and toilets available. No network coverage. It's a remote location with no shops or gas stations nearby; the closest are in Kawhia or Otorohanga, just over an hour's trip away.**
